The BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards are Australia’s most prestigious school science and engineering awards. The Awards are a partnership between the BHP Foundation, CSIRO and the Australian Science Teachers Association.

Entry to the BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards is via nomination only through a state or territory Science Teachers Association competition. There are three major awards – Investigations, Engineering and Innovator to Market. Check out the previous finalists and winners for ideas and inspiration for your next investigations or engineering entry.

Up to six student finalists are selected to participate in the virtual Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) where more than 1,800 high school students from 75 countries, regions and territories showcase their independent research.

Your journey with the Awards doesn’t stop after the ceremony, as a member of the Alumni network that gives members the opportunity to connect with fellow finalists.

Teacher Awards

We also recognise the outstanding contributions made by classroom teachers to science education. Entry to the BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Teacher Awards is via nomination through a state or territory Science Teacher Association. Check out the previous finalists and winners here.

Teacher finalists will be invited to attend the BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards Teacher Best Practice Seminar and the prestigious BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards virtual ceremony. The winning teacher will also be invited to attend the virtual International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
